The Treasure Coast Percussion Camp (TCPC) is dedicated to the education of youth in the percussive arts achieved through the practical discovery of and exposure to the world of percussion.
The TCPC was established in 2005 to promote the percussive arts and serve young percussionists living in the “Treasure Coast” area of Florida. The TCPC was founded by Brandon Putzke and Mike Sammons, percussionists and educators in the area and is hosted at Vero Beach High School in Vero Beach, FL. Sponsors of the 2005 TCPC included Melody Music, Alpha Omega Studios and Vero Beach High School Band. Guest artists consisted of Billy Mann (drumset) and Pro-mark artist, Christian Tamburr (jazz vibes). In 2005, the camp enrolled 25 students ranging from grades 6th-12th.
In 2006, the camp featured Bob McCormick, Professor of Percussion at University of South Florida, Tom Hurst, drumset artist, and Brazilian percussionist, Carlos Roberto Ferreira. Sponsors for the event included Zildjian, Yamaha, and Melody Music. Attendance for the camp expanded to 56 students, grades 6th-12th.
in 2007, the TCPC featured Jeff Moore, Professor of Percussion at the University of Central Florida, Dr. Michael Vercelli, Percussion Faculty at the University of Arizona and Director of the World Music Gang, Carlos Ferriera, Brazilian percussionist, Bobby Blum, Director of Percussion at Eau Gallie High School, Tommy Shoaf, electronic percussion specialist, The Dave Mundy and Rich Mola Rhythm Section, and Beran Harp, University of South Florida percussion student. Remo and Pro-Mark also joined the growing list of supporters for the 2007 TCPC.
For 2008, the TCPC will partner with Yamaha and present Marching Percussion clinics as part of Yamaha's Sounds of Summer Camps (June 18 and 19) Other camp days will feature hands-on classes in the area of:
